Week of Absence

Dear friends,

Please forgive my potential absence this week. My week is filled with working, going to the funeral home, running about a million errands, Fireworks, and birthday festivities! I don't think I'll have much time to even think about what I will write on here. So I am sorry, hopefully next week will have some great entries and catch up on your fun blogs!

Have a happy 4th of July and enjoy a lovely summer week! I am just excited to be done with funerals and errands and enjoy life.

P.S. I told someone at work about my crazy jumping cursor problem and they told me to buy a mouse to fix it. I did last night and I think the problem may be solved, yay!

The Good and the Bad

I've come to realize every day will probably have good and bad in it. It is okay as long as you learn to balance things out, overlook the bad when you can, and perhaps just be sad for a little while if you need to.

Good: Yesterday I got to spend the evening with my lovely boyfriend of 2 years.
Bad: Yesterday I found out my great aunt died of cancer.

Good: In exactly one week it is my 21st birthday! And I won't work as much next week.
Bad: A week can feel like a long time...and now I have to go to a funeral soon. Funerals and hospitals are my worst nightmares.

Well, I'm going to keep busy so I won't feel as sad. I hope everyone is going to have a wonderful and happy weekend!

2 Years

On this day two years ago, my boy asked me to come over his house after his hockey game. I was tired and grumpy and just wanted to go home and sleep. He insisted, so I reluctantly agreed. As I sat in his room he said he had to go do something real quick. He came back asking if I had a text message. Confused, I looked at my phone and a few seconds later it beeped with his name attached to it. "Will you be my girlfriend?", it said. "Of course!" I told him and we kissed.

So here's to the last two years and hopefully the start of many more. I love you. :)

I've been thinking a lot lately about choices. I've always been a big believer in fate, but also in choices. Each choice you make in life leads you down different paths. Sometimes, whatever choice you make is going to make someone else angry or hurt, but in the end you just have to do what make you happy and what is right for you.

Sometimes these are small choices, like where to eat for dinner, and other times they are larger, like where to work that will help you advance. Sometimes decisions are easier and others take more time; some you make quickly and others have you stalling for answers. The hard thing about choices is that sometimes they affect your future and you just can't see how yet. You have to quickly decide to do this or to do that and hope that everything works out. Sometimes it will and sometimes it won't. That really is the fun and heartbreaking part in life.

But remember, your choices are yours and your future has yet to play out. So choose wisely and know that the future is yours for the making.

Best Friends No Matter What

I've written about my best friend before. We've known each other since elementary school and were inseparable in middle school and she moved away in high school. It was a rough adjustment and we've never lived closer than an hour away since then. I visited her in her house with her boyfriend for the first time yesterday and we had a blast and took some crazy pictures (see some below!).

I was thinking about how some people just click. We're so different. I'm tall and she's short. I'm a city girl in every way and she's a country girl. She wants to work in the medical field and I want to be a writer. The list could go on...but the great part is looking past all these differences, we are perfect best friends. No matter how many months go on, when we visit each other it is like nothing ever changed. We bring out a goofy side in each other that many others probably never see.

So here's to having a best friend that is like your sister. Even though sometimes it hurts when she's far away and that we have to settle for a phone call rather than a is nice to know she's always there and so am I.

Enjoy the silliness! ;)

Technical Difficulties (and other difficulties too)

I am taking advantage of some quiet time and working computers to write to all of you. My computer has decided lately to off and on be "cursor crazy". This means as I type, the cursor is constantly jumping around, highlighting, erasing, moving, and making it impossible to do homework, chat, or write in my blog. It is really sad! So hopefully the issue will stop or I may have to take my computer for the meantime, I will try to post but if it continues there may be a hiatus.

The other crazy thing about this week was first one of my good friends was in the hospital for an unexplained seizure. Then yesterday my boyfriend went in for stomach pains. So my mind has been either working or worrying about those two. They're both okay, but prayers (if you pray!) for my boy and my friend please!

But to end on a good is the dress I just bought (and on sale for $20, yay!) for my 21st birthday (which is in about 2 weeks!) :) Isn't it pretty? The back has some nice lace detailing too.

Drama, drama, drama

Drama. You all know it, hate it, and love it. I am definitely one of those people that always say they hate it. For the most part, I mean it. There is nothing dumber than pointless drama that people cook up and I am one of the most un-confrontational people you'll ever meet. But at the same time, we are a society that lives and breathes drama. Think about all the popular television shows these days. If there's no fighting, breaking up and getting back together, backstabbing, etc., basically there's no show.

Think about it. When is the last time you made mountains out of molehills just to create something, anything to talk and gossip about with your friends? That lunch you had with your ex that turned out to be perfectly normal and nice...that you told everyone was ridiculously awkward? We all do things like that and I think it is perfectly normal.

I think the key is like with anything...balance it. Life would be boring without any drama. Keep watching your guilty pleasure shows and gossip a little about things with your best friend. But starting drama and ruining friendships, you better stop it. I know these people and they end up with zero friends and with loneliness being their only ally. So just don't forget...drama is only good in small doses.

Romantic Timeline

First of all, sorry about the lack of postings! Blogger has been down for me lately. :-/

I've always been a kind of person that looks at their life with a time line of romantic relationships. When I was in middle school and started liking boys, I spent many days daydreaming about my first kiss and my first boyfriend and who I would end up with. I'd sit in my bedroom listening to John Mayer looking at my awkward, geeky self and thinking it would never happen for me. Boys just didn't ever look at me that way. From middle school and on to high school, some boys would show interest and then split at the drop of a hat. I was always so insecure and thought that no one would ever love me the way I desperately wanted.

But eventually I wised up. I realized how clingy I had been. I realized how much I let low self-esteem rule my life. I wanted it too badly. High school years were spent improving my looks and improving my self-esteem. I finally had my first "real" boyfriend and my first kiss. I'll always remember those days. And now, approaching two years with my current boyfriend, I am so happy about the journey that led me to him. He is definitely my first love and I hope it will continue and last. I am just glad I can look back now on all my awkward years and be thankful I went through them and came back with confidence on the other side. Like the quote from Elliot from my favorite show "Scrubs", "How is it that no man understands that every woman, whether she's sixteen or sixty, still has that awkward, insecure, self-conscious teenage girl inside of her?" I do believe that. Every girl will always be insecure at some points in her life. I am just glad I am still learning about love and losing some of those insecurities.

Infatuation turns into Love

I found this quote on a website: "infatuation: when you find someone who is absolutely perfect. love: when you realize that they aren't perfect, and it doesn't matter." :)

Isn't that true? Crushes begin with infatuation. You find someone who you're attracted to and you think they are perfect in every way. You love the way they look, dress, think, act, talk. You attempt to study their every move and find any imperfection that would drive you away.

Then the time may come when your infatuation is mutual. You begin to spend every moment you can with this person. You learn more about what makes them tick and you start liking them more and more.

Then one day it hits you. You've seen this person at one of their weaker moments. You may have had an argument with them. They have holes in their socks and lose their keys. But you love them. And those "imperfections" are what makes you love them even more.

I love pets!

As promised here are some pet pictures... tell me all about your pets and send me some pictures if you'd like!

Here is Buddy and Hannah, my rat and my dog checking each other out. :) Both of them are very friendly! Buddy is about a year old and Hannah is 11! They both love to play and give kisses.

Here are my cousin's two pups that I dog-sat this weekend. They were so sweet. Briar, the brown one, was sweet and wanted to sit on my lap at all times. Chewie, the black puppy, was hyper and loved to play!
