If We Were the Weather...

If we were weather changes, he'd be a calming rain and I'd be a swirling storm.

Always moving, always wanting more, full of nerves and excitement and giggles.

At times I stand still, the calm before the storm. Yet he always swirls with me.

Take Time to Receive Love This Valentine's Day!

“We accept the love we think we deserve.” – Perks of Being a Wallflower
I will admit to all of you, I’ve never been that great with accepting love. I’m good with showing love: buying special gifts for loved ones, giving compliments, telling people I love them regularly, etc. But accepting that someone truly means it when they say they love me? Not so much.
It is a strange quality isn’t it? We crave love and when we receive it, we don’t believe it is true. We don’t believe that someone could accept all of those things about ourselves that make us cringe. He still loves me with glasses on and no makeup? When I am an anxious mess? When I freak out about the future?
I believe this is a lifelong process: accepting yourself and the love others share with you. Whether we want to admit it or not, we all have self esteem issues from time to time. We’re human. We shouldn’t punish ourselves so much for the mistakes we make. The truth is, the right people will accept all those things you’re insecure about and forgive you for your mistakes. The wrong people, the ones who aren’t right for you, will run away at the first sign of trouble. That isn’t about you: it is about the fact you aren’t meant to be.
So this Valentine’s Day, focus on all of your relationships and start learning to accept the love around you. Accept yourself for all of your strengths and weaknesses. Accept that you are capable of love and that many people love and care for you. Be gracious for those who love you unconditionally and do not take it for granted. The next time someone says they love you or compliments you, don’t question it or argue. Say thank you. Say I love you too. And leave it at that. :)
Happy Valentine’s Day! Much love to all of your fantastic readers!

Who Are You?

Who are you?
You’re the secrets you keep
The secrets kept from you
The memories you cherish
And the ones that keep your ghosts up at night
The tears shed
The nights of laughter
The confusion and the clarity
The days and the nights
Spent alone
Or in a crowded room
The kisses and regrets
Convictions and losses
The loves and lost loves
The people you meet
And the people kept from you
Multi-faceted lives
So who are you?
