Technical Difficulties (and other difficulties too)

I am taking advantage of some quiet time and working computers to write to all of you. My computer has decided lately to off and on be "cursor crazy". This means as I type, the cursor is constantly jumping around, highlighting, erasing, moving, and making it impossible to do homework, chat, or write in my blog. It is really sad! So hopefully the issue will stop or I may have to take my computer in...so for the meantime, I will try to post but if it continues there may be a hiatus.

The other crazy thing about this week was first one of my good friends was in the hospital for an unexplained seizure. Then yesterday my boyfriend went in for stomach pains. So my mind has been either working or worrying about those two. They're both okay, but prayers (if you pray!) for my boy and my friend please!

But to end on a good note...here is the dress I just bought (and on sale for $20, yay!) for my 21st birthday (which is in about 2 weeks!) :) Isn't it pretty? The back has some nice lace detailing too.

Plans as Prayers

"It came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to Father Time."

I love that lyric from one of my favorite bands, Death Cab for Cutie. Isn't it so true? (In the version in my head, I think of Father Time as God...but that can be anything you wish...)

We make all these plans not knowing what tomorrow will really bring. An opportunity you thought was there could vanish. A newer, more exciting one could surprise you. You just never really know. I constantly have to remind myself this because I am definitely a planner. I love my to-do lists and making specific plans for all day, all week, all month.

So make your plans, but don't be too frazzled if they get messed up or have to change. Go with the flow. I know I have a hard time with this, but I'm learning. We all have to learn to just accept things as they come and take things with a positive attitude. Wouldn't life be so much better if we took our plans as tiny prayers? If we said, "Hey I'd love to see my friend tomorrow, but if I can't, everything will still be okay. Right?"

Right. :)

Prayers for our Military

This past week I have been thinking a lot about our military. Given the fact I have never had a family member or someone close to me in the army around these times, or knew anyone in the September 11th tragedy, or been affected personally by the war in Iraq... I have never really thought much about it. I support our troops and my country, but it is not something that moves me to tears, until recently. Watching Ryan on the Real World talk about the effects the war has had on him and the pain he feels knowing he has to go back (in April, God bless you Ryan) and hearing that a friend from high school just went off to Afghanistan, it makes my heart hurt.

I think of all the military wives and loved ones who go through each day wondering if their soldier will come home. If he is getting enough to eat, if he has to kill someone, if he will be hurt. I can't imagine feeling that way. So often do we think of the soldiers and praise them for their duties, but shouldn't we also be praising the ones they leave behind? The ones that worry constantly. The ones that might have everything to lose.

So I pray that our military get through this. I thank them for their protection. I hope they come home soon to see their families and friends. And most of all I hope we can leave this war soon without any harm to all of us in the U.S.A.
