Exclusive Interview with LaToya from Real World St. Thomas

LaToya Jackson from The Real World St. Thomas graciously answered some questions about being on the Real World! She is so sweet and hilarious... here's what she had to say about the Real World and life afterwards! Check out her video or simply read what she had to say. 1. What made you decide to audition for the Real World?

I was mainly influenced by a former co-worker of mines, that worked with me at a local news station. Along with that friends and family always told me about how fun, funny, and full of personality I am, and how they could one day see me on t.v.  When I found out that the real world was holding a casting call  in Richmond VA. I thought to myself hmmm... why not try it out to see exactly how far this personality of mines could take me. And ehhh whata ya know... It landed me on MTV!

2. Can you give us any behind the scenes information or a sneak peek of what is to come in the upcoming episodes?

There is soo much more to look forward to on this season. We did so much, and had so much fun in 3 months, it almost sucks that it all have to be compressed into 1 hr episodes.  What  people don't know is that a couple of the episodes (1 and 4) were comprised of one day worth o footage. Everything you saw happened in each episode took place in an entire day. That goes to show how much went down on Hassle Island.

3. Do you regret anything you did while filming?

No, i have no regrets about anything I did. But I do have regrets about a few things that I DIDN'T do. I wish I spent more time perfecting my kayaking skills, and application of sunblock. Unfortunately I came home with really ugly tan lines.

4. What was the best part of being in St. Thomas with the roommates and what was the worst?

Personally, the best part of being in St, Thomas in my opinion was its atmosphere. The scenery was AMAZING! Everyday there were huge cruise ships that line the docks. Perfect sunny weather, white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and people coming  and going from all walks of life made me feel like i was in paradise. Even the rainy days were perfect. I would say the worst part would be the "island time". It's an old saying that goes "everyone in St. Thomas lives on island time", a much slower and relax pace of living and working. Unfortunately for me, I do everything fast. Eat, sleep, walk, and talk, so that was something that took a very long time for me to get adjusted too.

5. How has being on the show changed your life since you left St. Thomas?

Since leaving St. Thomas my lifestyle hasn't changed too drastically. I'm still the same person, with the same routines, family and friends. Only difference now  is that I've added an experience of a lifetime that has brought forth lots of attention locally and nationally.

6. Besides your own season, what was one of your favorite seasons of RW?

After 27 seasons I must say my all time favorite is Real World Back to Vegas. They were great cast that definitely kept things interesting and entertaining, but I must add that the competition is tough.... Because Real World St. Thomas, we are  planning on taking that title as favorite season.

What I Plan To Watch This Fall...

One of the best things about fall is finally here: FALL TV! Our favorite shows are finally back and there are plenty of new ones to check out! Here are the shows I plan to tune in to:

Mondays: How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls

Tuesdays: Glee, New Girl

Wednesdays: America's Next Top Model, Real World: San Diego

Thursdays: Big Bang Theory, The Office

Here's the Fall TV Calendar....Tell me which ones you are dying to watch!

Here's what I thought of the VMA's..

They might as well been called The Gaga's, or as Chelsea said... GA ga!

Let me first say I was very excited for the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). They had been showing commercials and promos for weeks, if not months. One of my best friends and I planned to watch it together and were geeked for some of the performances.

Let's start with the letdowns and work our way to my favorite parts.

LAME:

• I love Chelsea Handler. She's hilarious on her show and I've seen her live. Poor girl was nervous. I did laugh at some of the bits, but for the most part...not so funny.
  
• Justin Beiber, I thought you were 12. Apparently you're 16. That is not good. That's all I'm sayin'.
  
• KANYE. Okay, T. Swift went up there with a heartfelt song about how you're still innocent and that she basically forgives you because everyone makes mistakes. You come out (last also, great job MTV!) and sing a song about how it is okay to be a douche. Gag.
• They had random performances which they cut off. I suppose they were for the attendees while we were shown commercials, but still. I would have liked to see more of some of those..
• Gaga won EVERYTHING. I hate when one artist comes and steals all the awards. I know it is not their fault everyone likes them, but show someone else some love, voters.
  

AWESOME:

• I loooooved performances by Florence + The Machine (so much in fact, that I downloaded her CD today), Paramore & B.o.b (Love them, especially Paramore!), and Taylor Swift.
  
• The parts with Chelsea where she was meeting the new artists. Chelsea + Ke$ha = golden.
• Drake! I love him. But Mary J. Blige and Swizz Beats could have left and no one would have cared. I wish he would have sung "Over".
  

Overall, pretty entertaining but disappointing. There's always next year...

What did you think if you watched it?

Stop Domestic Violence: Emotional and Physical!

I've been watching a lot of MTV lately that deals with abuse. From "If you really knew me" where kids are constantly opening up about their parents physically abusing them or emotionally to "The Real World" where one girl is dealing with her demons from being abused in a relationship.

And to be honest, it makes me really, really sad. I like to think that if I was in a similar situation, I would know how to deal with it and I would say "Hell no!" to a guy that tried to put his hand on me that way. But what do I know? I've never had to deal with any physical abuse.

It just breaks my heart to see how people treat each other. From the smaller scale of parents telling kids they are fat every day (when they are clearly not) to a boyfriend beating up a girlfriend because she talked to another guy at school. How different would the world be if we just trusted each other and treated each other with the respect we all deserve?

Everyone is beautiful and here for a reason. Everyone has a chance. Change your attitude and treat the people you make fun of with respect and kindness. It will not only change their world and take away some of their hurt, but it will change yours. Everyone has things to deal with and remember you never know what someone is dealing with.
