First off, let me tell you about my music taste. Here's a list of my recent downloaded songs and it will give you a clue on how diverse it is, hehe. (An idea for those who don't like to illegally download music: I save up my loose change and go to a Coinstar machine. You can turn your change into an I-Tunes gift card! I love doing this!) Anyway....
1. Sweet Dreams - Beyoncé
2. Run This Town - Jay Z (feat. Rihanna & Kanye West)
3. Savior - Rise Against
4. See You Again - Miley Cyrus
5. Someday - Rob Thomas
6. Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me - The Smiths
7. Breaking - Anberlin
8. Rusted from the Rain - Billy Talent
9. Heaven Can Wait - We the Kings
10. Belle of the Boulevard - Dashboard Confessional
11. Relator - Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson
12. All the Right Moves - OneRepublic
I love listening to different kinds of music. While I'll admit, my favorite is more low-key, alternative type music...I have to listen to most anything. I like pop, country, rock...for me, it doesn't matter what genre the song fits into, it is just if I like it or not. I'm not going to say I have all country music...if I like certain songs "labeled" country.
So what about you? Do you like many different types of music or just one? And I'll leave you with a beautiful song from The Smiths, a band I have recently gotten into.
hmm, I have a lot but here are five of some that come and go off being my favorites:
ReplyDeleteBlack Balloon - The Kills. I like the Goo Goo Dolls one too but this one, well, the lyrics, to me, right now have meaning.
Somewhere over the Rainbow - Isreal Kamakawiwo 'Ole. The guy who sings it is from Hawaii and he uses one of those little guitars for it. I can't remember the name of it. It is probably the most powerful version of this song. He died in 97, but this song is completely timeless and his voice makes it more so. Really simply beautiful.
Utopia - Alanis Morissette. Yea, I am a Morissette fan! I admit it. Any and everything she plays and sings, I love it. She can do no wrong.
In the Arms of the Angel - Sarah McLachlan. You seen the commercial too right? Well, I loved the song before the commercial (the one about rescuing animals) and when I see it on TV, reminds me of how much I still love it. But yea, always feel closer to a higher belief when I listen to this song and yea, makes me think of Meg Ryan too. I can't remember the name of the movie that had this song in it where she was the actress and Nicolas Cage was in it too. City of Angels maybe? Oh I wish! wish! some guy that looked like Nicolas Cage is my guardian angel!
Heart Sutra (Sanskrit) - Imee Ooi. If you haven't heard this, it is really beautiful. The Heart Sutra is also good in Chinese, but this one sounds like wind chimes, and the chant is very calming. I don't understand a word of it but it is easier for me to paint when I have it playing in the background. I have so got to learn Chinese. So many people here speak it.
Love it! Thanks for sharing, I love hearing other people's music taste. You like some very beautiful songs...I will have to look up a few of them.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am giggling at the Nicolas Cage reference. :)
